Robert and Sam Salvoni are the custodians of Park House, a gorgeous country house nestled between Truro and St Clement here in Cornwall. Having long enjoyed Opera and keen to support the talented Duchy Opera, for the past two years they have opened their home to the public as a venue for their wonderful performances to be enjoyed.

As a Cornish business, here at St. Eval we are always excited to support our local arts, and so when asked to provide the special Park House Opera events with the warm glow of candlelight we were delighted to  say yes.

This is our second year providing candles for Park House Opera’s table tops, and we were so excited to   have the opportunity to attend ourselves this year. Last Friday a few members of the St. Eval team went along to show their support and experience the captivating performance from Duchy Opera first hand.  

Since 1977, Duchy Opera has built a reputation as one of the finest semi-professional opera companies in the UK, using Cornwall-based performers, musicians, designers and technicians wherever possible, actively seeking out young, emerging talent and encouraging innovation and creativity.

We were thrilled to be able to watch their performance of The   Gondoliers, Gilbert & Sullivan's endlessly entertaining Opera set in the gorgeous streets of Venice.

After a delicious Italian feast served banquette style out in the Cornish sunshine by Philleigh Way, we took our seats in front of the beautiful Park House and sat in awe of the spectacular talent on show. As our candles cast their flickering light and beautiful aromas around the outdoor space to provide an atmospheric glow to the evening, other local businesses were also in attendance to create a truly magical Cornish night. With delectable tiramisu from The Cornish Italian, indulgent ice cream from Callestick Farm and a choice of deliciously refreshing tipples from both Tarquins and Wildlife Botanicals the evening was a true showcase of Cornish produce, and we enjoyed every moment!
