Welcome to Cornwall | North Cornwall

Welcome to Cornwall | North Cornwall

Nestled on our farm on the North Coast of Cornwall, we feel incredibly lucky here at St. Eval to live and work surrounded by the captivating beauty of the Cornish coast and countryside. Not only do we take inspiration for our candles and home fragrances from this stunning backdrop, but it's also an incredible place to call our home.

Cornwall has long been a popular destination for free spirits and holiday makers alike, luring people in with its quirky traditions and picturesque scenery. We love sharing our passion for the county, and in this newest blog series we'll be sharing some of the popular spots and hidden gems to be found.

This week we're kicking off the series with the slice of Cornwall we call home, North Cornwall. Stretching along the coast from Portreath to Bude, North Cornwall is bursting with delightful sights sure to perfect your visit.

Bedruthan Steps

Bedruthan Steps

A stones throw from our home here on the coast and located within the Parish of St Eval, Bedruthan Steps is a meandering stretch of the South West Coast Path that boasts breath-taking panoramic views of stunning blue waters.

One of our favourite spots for weekend wandering, Bedruthan Steps always instils us with a sense of tranquil calm as we connect with nature and take in all of its beautiful sights. Don't forget to treat yourself to an incredible cream tea at the Carnewas Tea Room, which has fantastic views of Bedruthan Steps and Park Head. A must-visit spot, the tearooms have been run by the same local family for over 30 years.

Tintagel

Tintagel

Entrenched in myth and mystery, Tintagel is a village on the North Coast that's become wildly popular with locals and tourists alike who visit to learn more about its history. Said to be the once ancestral seat of the legendary King Arthur, Tintagel's castle ruins still remain perched on a clifftop and are rich in history to be explored.

Alongside the castle Tintagel also boasts a wonderful main street full of eateries, shops and independents selling quirky gifts and memorabilia, as well as stunning coastal views and the Gallos statue of King Arthur which stands an incredible eight feet tall.

Boscastle

Boscastle

Just 5 miles northeast of Tintagel sits the beautiful village of Boscastle, another one of our favourite spots. With a picturesque harbour and access to the South West Coastal Path, Boscastle is a wonderful destination for those wanting to explore more of Cornwall's breath-taking scenery.

Witchcraft, magic and intrigue lie at the heart of this charming village and if you're passing through, the Museum of Witchcraft is a fascinating place to explore.

Newquay

Newquay

Famous for its sandy beaches and surf culture, Newquay is one of the most popular towns along the North coast. From Watergate Bay to Crantock, Newquay boasts an impressive eleven beaches, each one as stunning as the last.

Each year Newquay comes to life as thousands of surf and music fans travel from near and far to attend Boardmasters, a festival that combines high level surfing competitions with popular music for a truly spectacular weekend. For 2023, Boardmasters Festival takes place between 9th August - 13th August.

St. Agnes

Wheal Coates

Tucked ten miles southwest of Newquay, St Agnes is another must see for visitors to Cornwall. Full of independent shops, pubs and beaches, St Agnes offers visitors a chance to experience a slice of the Cornish lifestyle.

Perhaps one of Cornwall's most iconic sights, St Agnes is also home to Wheal Coates, and the remains of the Towanroath engine house that sit high on the clifftops between Porthtowan and St Agnes.

These are just a few of our favourite spots in North Cornwall. We'd love to hear about your favourite places to visit here in beautiful Kernow, share with us via email to marketing@st-eval.com or via socials @stevalcandles.
