Community Charity Projects

As a business, we are honoured to be able to give back to the community to the charities and projects who need it most. We support both local charities and further afield too. Here is an insight into some of the incredible community charity projects we support here in Cornwall.

 

Cornwall Wildlife Trust

We are proud to be a Corporate Partner of Cornwall Wildlife Trust. As Cornwall’s leading local wildlife charity, the Trust carries out vitally important conservation and engagement work throughout the county. Our support helps the Trust manage 57 nature reserves, providing refuge for nationally rare and endangered species. Cornwall Wildlife Trust runs a number of fantastic conservation projects, on land and in our seas. As a business, we are delighted to help raise much-needed funds for the Trust, so it can continue to protect Cornwall’s wildlife and wild places, now and for the future.

Cornwall Heritage Trust

We are proud Business Sponsors of Cornwall Heritage Trust, demonstrating our support of protecting and conserving Cornwall's unique heritage and culture. Cornwall Heritage Trust believes in connecting people with Cornwall's unique cultural heritage: its landscape, stories and people. Their work focuses on the protection and management of some of Cornwall's most iconic historic sites that they ensure are cared for, cherished and shared freely with everyone. Every year they help thousands of school children enjoy trips out to amazing places to explore their heritage and discover the best of Cornish culture. 

Fishermen’s Mission Cornwall 

Cornwall is home to a vibrant fishing community and Fishermen’s Mission provide a lifeline of welfare and support for fishermen and their families. We support this wonderful charity with donations for auctions to raise money for the tremendous work they do.

Cornwall Air Ambulance 

Cornwall Air Ambulance provides vital support for sick and injured people in Cornwall and rely on the publics support to fund these lifesaving missions. We support the charity through candle donations to auction to raise money for the charity, alongside supporting numerous individual fundraising events supporting them too.

ShelterBox

The Shine for ShelterBox event invites the public to host a dinner and fundraise to support families after disaster with solar lights, emergency shelter and other essential items. We provide candles used for these wonderful community events.  

Local Food Banks 

We donate surplus and discontinued lines to local food banks to distribute to their hardworking team and people in the community they serve who need a little pick-me-up. Soothing scents and the flickering flame of candlelight are perfect to help you relax and unwind. 

 

Local NHS 

We love to support our local NHS with donations to the hardworking staff for all their tremendous work, as well as providing unfragranced candles for the Neonatal Unit. Our NHS workers really are heroes.  

Plastic Free Mawgan Porth 

We are proud to be a part of Plastic Free Mawgan Porth and recognised by Surfers Against Sewage as a Plastic Free Champion, following our efforts to eliminate single-use plastic from our collections. The team regularly support local beach cleans at Mawgan Porth and beyond, helping to keep Cornwall clean. 

 

Supporting the Arts  

Our Folk Collection is supporting two incredible creative arts charities: Creative Kernow – FEAST Projects here in Cornwall and Acting for Others UK.  

We pledge to donate 10% of sales from our new Folk Collection Scented Tin Candles in Amber, Oak and Moss, to these two arts charities throughout the months of August and September (2020), helping to support the vibrant creative arts scene.  

Unseen

Unseen is a UK based charity who provide safehouses and support in the community for survivors of trafficking and modern slavery. We are proud to support Unseen with their vital work, and recently donated to their Big Give Christmas Challenge, which raised an amazing £102k which will help them to continue their live changing work.

Showing our Appreciation

We are also proud to show our thanks and appreciation for staff and volunteers at a number of charities both in Cornwall and across the country. Cornwall Blood Bikes, St. Petrocs, The Invictus Trust, Cornwall Refuge Trust, Cornwall Hospice Care and Paradise Park are but a few of the amazing charities we are proud to have thanked by sending candles for them to enjoy.
